What does an Rf of 0.83 mean?
Plant pigment question?
I suppose you're doing Thin Layer Chromatography because Rf are normally a coefficient calculated in these experiments.
It's the division of the migration length of your substance (here chlorophylle I suppose) over the total length of migration (up to where the mobile phase went).
So 0.83 means your product migrated 83% of the way. Compare that to your standards, you should identify the product u ran on the TLC.
