Which pigment causes "Black" colour in hair?
Melanin...
Reply:Just to let you know.. actual black hair doesn't exist.

It's always just very dark brown, that's a fact.

Look it up if you'd like. Peace.
Reply:The pigment melanin is responsible for both hair and skin being black. Weirdly enough it is made up of two pigments itself, one of which is a dark brown, the other is a sort of strawberry blond.

Plant pigment question?

What does an Rf of 0.83 mean?

Plant pigment question?
I suppose you're doing Thin Layer Chromatography because Rf are normally a coefficient calculated in these experiments.

It's the division of the migration length of your substance (here chlorophylle I suppose) over the total length of migration (up to where the mobile phase went).

So 0.83 means your product migrated 83% of the way. Compare that to your standards, you should identify the product u ran on the TLC.

What pigment and glands are found in the skin?

melatonin is the pigment and sweat glands are found in the skin

Skin pigment problem?

i was looking at my baby pictures and i was light brown and know m dark......i was wondering how can i get my natrual colro back....plus i have dark spots in my face which make me feel ugly at times....how i can fix this...how can i even out my skin color and get my orginal skin color back...eithe home remidies or cheap methods...thnx

Skin pigment problem?
u cant

wear makeup

chea lozer u didnt figure that out yet?

naw im just playin home dawg
Reply:Almost all african-americans are born with light skin, then most get darker as they get older. I'm not quite sure why but it's a pattern I've noticed when looking at friend's baby pictures. I'm not quite sure there's any way to get your natural color back. Also, I'm not quite sure about the spots on your face. I'd suggest cover-up if you'd really like to hide them, but we'd really have to diagnose the problem and how to fix it. Olay has wonderous products and they probably have somehing to even out the color, probably a moistureisor(sp?) or a facial wash to even out color pigment. However, I don't think there is any way to get your old skin color back, its something all babies grow out of.
Reply:well, i had really dark skin when i waz born, and now i have really light skin.

i dont think u can get your "original" color back, sorry!

for the dark spots, just wear foundation.

hope i helped!

If a chlorophyll is a the primary photosynthtic pigment, the what adaptive purpose do the other coloured?

pigments (B0carotene, Xanthophylls,Pheophytin, and Chlorophyll b) serve for a plant?

If a chlorophyll is a the primary photosynthtic pigment, the what adaptive purpose do the other coloured?
The other pigments are called accessory pigments. They absorb wavelengths of light that chlorophyll does not absorb. Then they pass that energy along to the chlorophyll. With these various pigments, the plant can use more of the light than it would with chlorophyll a alone.

Is there always a connection with skin pigment colour and hair colour?

I know that most people who have very dark skin usually have naturally dark hair, because of their pigments. But are there any very very dark skined people (e.g people who may partly have an african background) who have naturally light hair (e.g blond)?

also is there a connection between a person's hair colour and their nipple colour (male or female).

Is there always a connection with skin pigment colour and hair colour?
Both hair and skin color are determined by the same chemical (melanin). This is more apparent in hair than skin making it extremely unlikely to find someone with naturally lighter hair than skin. They would have to have some sort of genetic disorder for this to be possible.
Reply:I think it's pretty obvious. They aren't that many black people who are blondes...and alot of Irish people (light skin) have ginger or red hair.
Reply:Hair color is the result of pigmentation due to the presence of the chemicals of melanin and phaeomelanin.

Human beings have many variations in hair color and hair texture. In general, the more melanin, the darker the hair color; the more phaeomelanin, the lighter it is. Usually the color of children's and adults' hair varies from pale yellow (blonde) to deep black. Hair may also come in more than one shade of color on one's head. As an example, the shade of one's hair color may change from a light shade to a darker one as time elapses.

The ethnic distribution of colors has historically varied by geographic area. For example, black hair prevails in the Middle East, North Africa, and Southern Europe. Dark shades also occur in East Asia, South Asia, Sub-saharan Africa and The Americas. Brown, blonde, red and black hair occurs mostly in white Europeans and their descendents.

Considerable differences in hair color and texture exist between individuals of similar ethnicity, and immigration and global travel have greatly increased the diversity of hair characteristics in many countries.
Reply:skin colour is dtermined by genetics, as is hair color. however hair color tends to change in many fair haired individuals to a darker shade as a result of diet as well. hair, like the nails is made of waste products within the body. thus, being a waste product, diet can cause blonde hair to turn brown and even darker brown as people age, and before it begins to turn white as age tends to cause it to do. most most redf haired people don't have any change except to get a bit darker shade of red as they age.

skin color changes due to the reaction within the skin cells to the ultraviolet rays reacting with the melanin in the skin to turn it darker (that is called tanning).

all racesa have the same reaction to sunlight. the skin darkens as it is exposed, and lightens when it doesn't get sunlight.

the only people who some think don't react this way to sunlight are the negroes who have a very high melanin content. this is not true. if a ***** was kept out of the sun for several months would get a sunburn just as easily as a fairskinned individual would. it just would not show redness., but it would be just as likely to cause severe pain as in a fair skinned person. the lack of sunlight causes the melanin in the skin to remain neutral, but when exposed, it reacts just the same in all races.

the amount of melanin within the body is genetically set as a result of evolutionary changes over thousands of years. some areas where man was received longer, and higher amounts of sunlight than others. melanin is a chemical which acts a a natural barrier to the harmful rays of the sun. thus some groups of people required greater protection due to the amount of sunlight exposure over time than others.
Reply:Mostly there is a connection or relation between the the skin colour and hair colour and that depend on the genetics and the the parents and the ethnic group..

let's take the Chinese as an example, have you ever seen a natural blond? or with green,, or blue eyes?

but there are some variations in these adjectives

you can see the (Australian Aborigines) they are good example for what I mean..and what you are looking for..

I hope that I fulfil the answer... hope the best for you

Pigment extraction from spinach?

Grind the leaves with sharp sand and ethanol in a pestle and mortar.

The solution will contain many pigments - mostly those associated with photosynthesis.

A fine mesh filter is usually sufficient to retain the sand and debris.

Separate the pigments by chromatography.

Note: extracted pigments are light sensitive and will degrade.

Pigment shadows that actually POP on your eye (inexpensively?)?

I can't afford MAC or URBAN DECAY all the time, I've got a few select favorites from them, but I can't order it all the time and the stores around my area don't carry their lines.

I would love a cosmetic line that offers actual color with their shadows rather than tint. Are their any common brands that you've used that really blew you away with their bright color?

What happens to beetroot pigment at 80C?

typically, the colour of the solution gets darker as temperature increases, but at 80C it gets lighter...

someone please explain why???

What happens to beetroot pigment at 80C?
The answer to this is quite simple, especially if you are measuring colour on a colorimeter.

The purple pigment is actually denatured at higher temperatures, above 60-70 degrees. When the purple pigment is denatured it produces a yellow chemical instead of the purple colour you have been observing.

If you are using a spectrometer or colorimeter then it is set to measure a specific wavelength and therefore recognises the yellow colour to be much more clear than the purple pigment! (the change in colour will result in a lower absorbance at that wavelength and so the numbers decrease).

Hope this is enough info for you!

Pigment Rf values units?

what units is Rf measured in? i know it's distance traveled by compound / distance traveled by solvent, but after you divide it, is it in cm, mm, what??? and usually, when you find the distance of compounds and solvents, is it usually found in cm, or mm? thanks :)

Pigment on pubic area, what to do with them?

I think I'm born witht hem, but I don't think so, I think they are leftover effects from eczema that I used to have. I have this dark tints on my pubic area, and also at the upper part of the inner thigh where the sides of the panty touches, and also under my breasts where the bra ends. I think my skin is still being irritated by areas where fabric comes into close contact and friction.

What can I do to get rid of them?

Pigment on pubic area, what to do with them?
most females have a bit darker skin in those areas

probably nothing wrong with you

:)
Reply:not a thing really =just keep checking to make sure the eczema doesn't make a return visit
Reply:You can use bleaching cream that you can buy at your local drug store. Also try rubbing them with lemon juice as long as the skin is not open or irritated....it should not sting. The lemon juice has acid in it that will remove some of the discoloration. Good luck.
Reply:Keep those areas clean and dry. Make sure the skin is not broken, or red. If so use a medicated ointment on those places. If you are overweight that may be the cause. If not some women just have these problems. Don't worry to much about it unless it is irritated

Is it ok to buy "pigment" for your eyeshadow or does it need to be mixed?

I am looking at some makeup on ebay, MAC, and they are all called "pigments"...will that be the same as my other MAC eyeshadow I have bought at the store?

Is it ok to buy "pigment" for your eyeshadow or does it need to be mixed?
Pigments are concentrated color powders which can be used on the cheeks, lips, eyes, etc. They are a multipurpose cosmetic and can be used either alone or mixed with other products (such as with a clear lip gloss to tint it).
Reply:I think pigments enhance your existing shadow. They are usually shiney/glittery. Useing a regular color as a base, then brush the pigment over the applied shadow "enhances" the look.

Sore Throat w/ phlegm + blood pigment?

Hi all,

I am having a sore throat and it started 2 days ago. I am currently taking Erythromycin (red in colour) as the doctor felt that it might be a bacteria infection. Spat out some green phlegm and just now when I spat, I saw some brownish-red pigments on the phlegm. I am guessing its blood.

I don't cough a lot and neither do I spat out phelgm a lot. However, I feel my throat quite warm and "coarse". So, I just drink water to make it feel better. Also, my mouth "dries" up pretty fast and that forces me to drink water as well.

Can anyone give me any insights if I am suffering from some respiratory diseases or tonsilitis? Or is it just normal to see such things.

To add on, I am also taking Fedac (Triprolidine + Pseudoephedrine) for my suspected cold symptoms. Could it be my cold that is causing the inflammation in my nose and it runs down to my throat?

Sore Throat w/ phlegm + blood pigment?
you are exactly right the sinus drainage is causing the irritation in your throat! The red-pigments is just from the sore throat, keep taking your antibiotic, drink alot of water (this will help loosen the phlegm. You can try to take some sucret or something for the sore throat maybe gargle with some warm salt water
Reply:I'd go back to the doctor if I were you. If you're coughing up blood, old or new, that's a sign that you have serious issues.

Which is the pigment that gives gray colour in plants?

Pls give the right one

Which is the pigment that gives gray colour in plants?
I assume you mean Grey colour!

Most plant pigments belong to a few groups of chemicals. Grey is probably a type of Anthocyanins, possibly in the Cyanidin group of chemicals.

Df

Which is the pigment that gives grey colour in plants?

Light-colored leaves that look white or gray have green pigment, but leaf surface modifications mask the color. Often the graying comes from fine hairs or wax that dilutes or greys the color value of the chlorophyll and accessory pigments. However some plants have fewer chloroplasts so have less chlorophyll and absorb less of the light. These are adaptations to different habitats.

Reduce only the green chlorophyll and the result might be yellow. Remove a lot of both chlorophyll and the yellow pigment xanthophyll and the leaf is white because almost no light is absorbed. The exact color depends on the accessory pigments. This is perfect for deeply shaded locations.

However without the accessory pigments this plant has no protection from sunburn. This decrease in total pigmentation is an adaptation to low light situations where the plant balances the amount of chlorophyll and protection needed with the amount of available light energy and risk of UV damage.

Plants have to protect themselves from sunburn just as any living organism so they use sunscreens like wax or hairs in the equatorial latitudes or regions with little shade. These regions produce plants with a lower rate of photosynthesis if they are water or nutrient poor. Plants like this appear adapted to regions with poor soil %26amp; little water. Here they shield themselves with other pigments from the sun’s potential UV damage. Further the hairs, if present, can shade the surface, reduce water loss, and prevent insects from reaching the leaf easily. Wax prevents water loss and light penetration. This is why grey plants are adapted to hot climates also.

The exact color of a plant depends on the accessory pigments. There are carotenoids such as the, carotenes, %26amp; xanthophylls (yellow through orange to red). Other pigments can be present in the leaf include the flavonoid (reddish to purple) molecules. Some of these absorb in the UV as sun screens to prevent UV damage but others serve different functions.

In plant pigment chromatography, would the rf value of a pigment be the same if a different solvent were used?

No-any molecule in a given solvent matrix has a uniquely consistent Rf.

Therefore, different solvent, different Rf.

^

I got that from textbook

In plant pigment chromatography, would the rf value of a pigment be the same if a different solvent were used?
Most probably.
Reply:I don't think the Rf value would be the same. Rf value tells the distance the pigment was carried compared with the distance the solvent traveled. Think of it as a percentage, only usually given in decimal form. So if a pigment's Rf value is 0.65, then the pigment traveled 65% as far as the solvent traveled in that time.

If you use a different solvent, the solvent probably wouldn't carry the pigment exactly as efficiently as the original solvent. If the new solvent carries the pigment a little better, the pigment would go a little farther, and the Rf would be a little higher number. Likewise, if the new solvent doesn't dissolve and carry the pigment as well, the new Rf would be lower.

The distance the pigment is carried depends on how well it dissolves, its charge, its molecular weight, and so on. Different solves will affect the pigments differently.

Does everything contain a pigment?

Do all cells have pigments inside of them? We are studying this in biology, and I am very confused! If possible, I would like a short, concise answer. I know that many of the science experts on this site forget that some people don't understand "big science words" (no offense, you can still answer!).

Does everything contain a pigment?
Yes; A pigment is a material that changes the color of light it reflects as the result of selective color absorption. Pigments appear the colors they are because they selectively reflect and absorb certain wavelengths of light. Even white light is a roughly equal mixture of the entire visible spectrum of light.
Reply:In addition to what saffron says, the color black is actually the absence of any light at all! So that means that if something is black, it is not reflecting any light back to your eye. Check out this website below on the science behind color (er pigment). Pretty cool.

Which pigment are present in potato ? ..are th pigments located in chloroplast, chromoplast, or vacules?

The actual potato you eat is in the ground so it does not have chloroplasts or chromoplasts, and the vacules never have pigment. the part of the spud that has pigment is the above ground part and the pigment is in the chloroplasts.

Which pigment are present in potato ? ..are th pigments located in chloroplast, chromoplast, or vacules?
Chloroplasts and such look green but are not made that way because of pigments.

Potatoes can get green when they are growing.

There are types of sweet potatoes that look pinkish red... That would be pigment.

Any chelating agent will do. Such as monobromo hydroxyacetone.

Chemistry help..pigment?

Would you carry out the extraction of the pigments(plant) at high temperatures? why? or why not?

Chemistry help..pigment?
At high temperatures you may "cook" the pigments and cause them to decompose. However at high temperatures the rate of extraction will be higher.

At low temperatures there is much less chance of damaging the pigments but extraction will be slow.

Probably best at lower temperatures, but high enough for a reason rate

what do u do?

HOw do you use pigment?? M.A.C pigment??
Pigment is a loose powder. You can use it many ways, that's the beauty of pigments. Most people use them as eyeshadow (with a brush of course), but you can use them as highlighter for your cheekbones, mix them with lotion, clear gloss, or clear nailpolish to creat shimmer lotion or colored gloss/polish, anything!

See this vid for more info:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7pJmTav8...
Reply:... it's eyeshadow beb. Just very strong eyeshadow. And depending on the color you got you can put use a blush applicator and use it to highlight your cheekbones. You can apparently add it with water too and use it as eyeliner.

Just make sure it's actually makeup though, b/c some pigments are permanent.
Reply:I have used mine just as a loose powder on my eyes, I have used some mixed with my loose powder (in small amounts) just for a little extra glow, I have used it to alter the color of my tube lipsticks and lipglosses, I have mixed it with water and used a fine tipped brush as a liner, and I have even mixed it with some nail polish for a little kick. I like to mix them together with each other and also with MAC paints and even other loose or pressed eyeshadows. There are SOOOOO many ways to use your pigment it isn't even funny, so pretend like it is your own little chemistry set and enjoy!

For people who are pigment addicts!?

I have been doing research on the one of the hottest new makeup products...pigments. I have not used any yet, but I'm curious, and am thinking about trying one out. Everyone says MAC is the best, but honestly who would pay 20 bucks for tiny jar of powder? Then i thought, well I would. :] But I don't want to order off the net and the only other place with MAC products around here is available at Macy's and they only have 6 colors or so, while MAC has out like a billion. But then I discovered L'Oreal HIP. They might have a very small variety compared to MAC, but they are cheaper and I could walk less than a mile to get them. I don't know what to do, so I need advice. If you could tell me all about HIP pigments and how they compare to MAC. Thankss!

For people who are pigment addicts!?
the Hip shadows are good but the loose pigments are no where near as good as MAC. the texture is clumpy, application isnt smooth, and the colors aren't good. Better to spend $20 on something good than $10 on crap. MAC pigments are expensive, but they seriously last FOREVER.
Reply:I would just try them and see if you like them. If they work for you, and you dont have to pay an arm and a leg to try them, I'd do it :)
Reply:"Pigments" is not a makeup product, but rather a reference to how deep and rich the color of any makeup product is, whether its eyeshadow or lipstick. When someone says that a specific eyeshadow is high in pigment, they mean that the color is rich and strong, and doesn't need to be layered in order to see deep and vibrant color. Some cheaper and less well-known makeup brands use less pigment and thus the color is not as vibrant.
Reply:I LOVEEEEE L'Oreal HIP!! they are awesome!! get one to start out and see how you like it!
Reply:well, i honestly like the L'Oreal HIP

that stuff is cheap and its pretty!

I love MAC but this stuff works well.

If you like using it and would like other stuff, id suggest buying the MAC. i have some pigment stuff from avon and if you use the smallest amount sometimes its wayyyyyyy too much.
Reply:The HIP pigments are ok in my opinion and only work well with a colored base. MAC pigments are so much better. They are expensive and the jar will last you a lifetime unless you're an artist and you use the same color all the time on clients. I get mine off of ebay from a reputable seller that sells pigment samples. For the price of one pigment I can try a few colors and the samples last quite a long time because it is so highly concentrated and little goes a long way. Just be careful on ebay though because some sellers do sell fake MAC. Good Luck

Colorfast pigment - define and explain the molecular structure that provides this property?

what is the meaning of colorfast %26amp; what makes it different from non-colorfast pigments?

Colorfast pigment - define and explain the molecular structure that provides this property?
color fast, sticks to the substrate and does not erode on physical disturbance.

Colorfast pigment - define and explain the molecular structure that provides this property?

what are the differences between colorfast and non colorfast pigments?

Colorfast pigment - define and explain the molecular structure that provides this property?
Pigments, are generally solids and are usually insoluble in the medium in which the pigment is being used.

Pigments, are typically used instead of dyes in applications where color migration or bleeding is undesirable.

One possible approach to create a colorfast pigment for use in something like toothpaste would be in a layered anion exchange material which is contacted with the dye under conditions in which a water-insoluble pigment is obtained.

The water soluble dye and the layered anion exchange material would normally be contacted together in a liquid medium in which the dye has been dissolved. The layered anion exchange material is preferably a layered aluminate of some kind.

Generally, pigments are graded by international standards for color fastness. Eight is the most color fast, and anything over six will do quite well out-of-doors. As ancient Frescoes, sand paintings, petroglyphs and other pure-pigment art demonstrate, certain pigments can remain in direct sunlight for thousands of years without any indication of fading. These pigments are earth, metal, and chemical colors that are neither dyes nor tints. Dyes and tints, such as alizarin crimson, berry juice, etc. will bleach quickly due to ultraviolet exposure that occurs in direct or indirect sunlight. Today most paints are derived from much different sources than they were as recently as fifty years ago. Real cadmium, cobalt, copper oxide, to name a few, are no longer used. They are now formulated to appear similar to the traditional pigments. They may be extended out with white, resulting in an appearance that can differ with traditional counterparts. For the most part these new colors are very colorfast and without the addition of medium or varnish they will not fade when left in direct sunlight.

Which pigment do you think is more stable chlorophyll a or caretenoid?

Plz tell about Why is the color of a leaf kept in the dark frequently yellow or pale green? Are the pigments interconvertable

Which pigment do you think is more stable chlorophyll a or caretenoid?
Carotinoids are more stable than chlorophyll, thats why leaves stay red/orange/yellow after they have fallen from a tree in the fall.

Thin Layer Chromatography & pigment separation?

I have used TLC to separate plant pigments - what other biological compounds can be separated by this method though? Is its main use for the separation of proteins?

My books give information on the method but very little on the uses.

Also, does anyone know if there is any other method of separating pigments. - I don't need lots of detail - just a name so that I can look it up.

Thankyou!

Thin Layer Chromatography %26amp; pigment separation?
TLC and other chromatographic methods depend on solubility of the separating compounds and their affinity for the substrate of the chromatogram. You can separate anything that differs by having a long enough plate, and you can sometimes run a separation along one edge of a plate, and turn the plate 90 deg and run another stage of separation (often using a different solvent or solvent mixture).

It is not mainly used for separation of proteins, which are more often separated by gel electrophoresis (which separates based on charges on the proteins) or gel permeation chromatography (which separates based on size).

Pigments should be discriminated from dyes, by the way, a common error for botanists who describe all colored substances as pigments. In the wider world, pigments are generally insoluble in much of anything that leaves them intact (consider prints on clothing and the fact that dry cleaning does not remove them), while dyes are soluble in something.

In any event, if the colored material is soluble in something, be it hexane, water, THF, a chlorinated solvent, then it can be separated from other colored materials not only by TLC, but by paper chromatography and column chromatography as well.

Is there a way to create your own oil colours for painting from scractch? I know i need pigment but what else?

Pigment and natural wax. But what else? And how can I prepare it? In the microwave? Benmarrie (or something?)

Is there a way to create your own oil colours for painting from scractch? I know i need pigment but what else?
You have to mix in at least pigment and medium, and then there can be other ingredients like wax, turpentine, and other modifying agents. You might be able to melt the wax in a microwave, but I would avoid them because pigments may contain metals, which would be hazardous to microwave, and the oil could get bubbles and burn you, etc. It's pretty easy to make basic oil paint using pigments and medium, see specific instructions below.
Reply:You will need:

finely ground pigment

linseed oil (or safflower oil for pale colors)

A glass muller

A flat piece of glass

A palette knife

an empty metal paint tube

The only ingredients you need to make oil paint are pigment and oil. See link below for good instructions and pictures on how to make paint.

Natural wax (beeswax) is usually dissolved in mineral spirits to make a wax medium used to alter the body and handling of paint, not in making the paint itself. Beeswax is sometimes sold in small pellets so it is easier to dissolve. No heat is involved.

To put a clolour onto bleached hair do I have to put a red pigment in first?

My friend has bleached hair but now wants to go brown...I have been told that to do this you need to first put in a red pigment...is this right?

To put a clolour onto bleached hair do I have to put a red pigment in first?
Beware! Your hair could turn green! Correct- you need sufficient red in the equation to balance the colour, and it is definitely a salon job. Firstly they would in-fill your hair with red colour pigment for the new colour to use as an anchor and after this has taken, the new brown colour would be applied over the top. It is a real specialist art and I seriously don't recommend that you do it at home.
Reply:it might help, as colour fades quickly ou of bleached blonde hair
Reply:yep. Good luck!
Reply:I have no idea but good luck.
Reply:yes I have just done it with mine,I used a lo real mahogany copper it came out a nice colour so kept it like that for a week then I put a herbal essences medium brown on left it for 45 Min's,but it's a bit dark so 25 should do it,do a strand test first.
Reply:Not necessarily a red pigment, but something redder that you want the final color to look.
Reply:No No, this will send it pink and it will not grab anyway cause the hair will be swollen. Go to a salon as soon as and don't buy home hair colour, if you do this will send it either too red or green.
Reply:That is what I heard. Apparently if you don't, you'll stand the risk of your hair going green. I've seen women with green hair but I am never sure whether that was their intention or their colouring gone wrong for lack of red.

Best to go to a salon to have it done.

apply flamazine ointment. It will be an ugly scar if it get infected. Do not burn yourself.

What is the name of the part of the cell where the pigment is made?
There are many pigments in cells, but an important pigment in animals is melanin. (Other substances are pigmented, like hemoglobin, but its job is not to color things but to carry oxygen.) Getting back to melanin, its made from tyrosine and cysteine in the cytoplasm of the cells. These are 2 amino acids which come from protein. Several enzymes catalyze the several reactions that take tyrosine and cysteine to melanin.

What wavelenghts of visible light are not being absorbed by this pigment?

A plant has a unigue photosythesis pigment. The leaves of this plant appear to be reddish yellow.

What wavelenghts of visible light are not being absorbed by this pigment?
its reddish yellow, so it means the light with wavelength around reddish yellow has been reflected by the pigment. and the wavelength of reddish yellow is usually around 580-680nm.

My dog has a small cut near his eye. Will the pigment eventually return (it was black)? It's pink now?

I asked this question last month and I got three answers that all said "no". Not even a "maybe". My dog has healed 100%, and the black pigment has completely returned. Does this mean that Yahoo Answers is pretty much worthless?

Does any body have all the answers to Ward's AP Biology Lab # 4 Plant Pigment and photosynthesis?
All during spring and summer the leaves have served as factories where most of the food necessary for the trees’ growth are manufactured. This food-making process takes place in the leaf in numerous cells containing the pigment chlorophyll, which gives the leaf its green color. This chlorophyll absorbs energy from sunlight and uses in in transforming carbon dioxide and water to carbohydrates, such as sugars and starch. Along with the green pigment leaves also contain yellow or orange arytenoids--which, for example, give the carrot its familiar color. Most of the year these yellowish colors are masked by the greater amount of green coloring. But in the fall, partly because of changes in the period of daylight and changes in temperature, the leaves stop their food-making process. The chlorophyll breaks down, the green color disappears, and the yellowish colors become visible and give the leaves part of their fall splendor.

At the same time other chemical changes may occur and cause the formation of additional pigments that vary from yellow to red to blue. Some of them give rise to reddish and purplish fall colors of leaves of trees such as dogwoods and sumacs. Others give the sugar maple its brilliant orange or fiery red and yellow. The autumn foliage of some trees, such as quaking aspen , birch and hickory, shows only yellow colors. Many oaks and others are mostly brownish, while beech turns golden bronze. These colors are due to the mixing of varying amounts of the chlorophyll and other pigments in the leaf during the fall season.

Fall weather conditions favoring formation of brilliant red autumn color are warm sunny days followed by cool nights with temperatures below 45 degrees F. Much sugar is made in the leaves during the daytime, but cool nights prevent movement of the sugar from the leaves. From the sugars trapped in the leaves the red pigment called anthocyanin is formed. Familiar trees with red or scarlet leaves in autumn are red maple, silver maple, flowering dogwood, sweetgum, black tupelo or blackgum, Northern red oak, scarlet oak, and sassafras.

The degree of color may vary from tree to tree. For example, leaves directly exposed to the sun may turn red, while those on the shady side of the same tree or on other trees in the shade may be yellow. The foliage of some tree species just turns dull brown from death and decay and never shows bright colors.

Also, the colors on the same tree may vary from year to year, depending on the combination of weather conditions. Where there is much warm, cloudy, rainy weather in the fall, the leaves may have less red coloration. The smaller amount of sugar made in the reduced sunlight moves out of the leaves during the warm nights. Thus, no excess sugar remains in the leaves to form the pigments.

What does it mean to tint your primer the same pigment as your paint?

I am preparing to paint over some extremely old wallpaper, and in the instructions they had a "trick of the trade" point and it plainly said: When you buy your primer have it tinted to half the amount of the same pigment you are having them put in your paint.

What does it mean to tint your primer the same pigment as your paint?
When you buy paint, the store starts with a base, and adds the pigment to get the color you selected. So if you tell the store to add half the pigment, you will end up with a paint that is close to your finish coat, but slightly lighter so you will be a ble to tell the difference between the 2, when applying the finish
Reply:Wellam is right on, but have you really thought of the consequences of painting over wallpaper?

I am so....ugh sad like i have a dark pigment on my upperlip nd i dnt no wat 2 do...?
As far as I know, cocoa butter is your best bet. I had these scars on my face from picking at bumps and scabs and using cocoa butter cleared them right up. It may take some time but you will see it diminish over time. Be persistent.
Reply:it's probably just residual bruising... put sunscreen on your skin so you dont hyperpigment when you go outside. If it still stays dark try a 2%hydriquinone(bleaching) product from a salon or spa
Reply:both coco butter or aloe should work but it might not never know jus depends on how fast your body heals.
Reply:Pure vitamin E is a good choice too, as that helps heal skin. Next time, use hair bleach for facial hair, found at wal mart. You have to use it every few months, but it keeps the shadow off the upper lip!

My 2 yr old golden's nose has lost significant pigment over the last year.?

This is not a case of "snow nose", as the condition onset during the spring, and has progressively worsened.

I've read that kelp will help restore pigment. Has anyone experienced this problem and used kelp with any success?

My 2 yr old golden's nose has lost significant pigment over the last year.?
If your golden uses a plastic bowl, switch to stainless or ceramic. Plastic bowls are known to cause pigment change on the nose.

I add kelp powder ( http://www.carealotpets.com/images/items... ) to my dogs' food twice a week and the faded strip on their noses (no idea what caused it but both happened after Bordetella vaccine spray) became a dark brown instead of a lighter brown. I'd say yes kelp does help.
Reply:I'd say I saw improvement after feeding kelp every day (follow the product's feeding instructions) for 3 months. Do keep in mind that kelp is a vegetable and should be mentioned to your vet when he/she asks about your dog's diet. Report It

Reply:Thanks, Wags. That additional info helps a lot. We've started him on N.R. (Natural Rearing) Seaweed Mineral Food (which actually indicates on the label that among other things, it promotes healthy pigmentation). It's really nice to know about how long before we might start to see results, though. Report It

Reply:No I haven't. I hope it's not anything serious, but I don't think it is. Try calling the vet and see what they say. Some of them will answer questions over the phone without charging.

I have naturally dark brown hair with alot of red pigment. I have been dying it blonde with loreal?
I can tell you a sure-fire way to get a color that matches your skin tones: Wear your own! Seriously, when you alter your hair color you have to be very, very careful to make sure that the new color is a good match for your skin. As you have discovered, this is quite difficult. Your natural hair color sounds very beautiful to me and I'd suggest that you wear it proudly. You will look lovely.
Reply:what you will have to do is if you want it blonde because of the brass it will take you more then one session with blonde. First try a lightener that gets you to the brassy stage then dye your hair blonde one more time. Then your hair should be a shade of blonde.

What is the function of Chlorophyll B as an accessory pigment?

Hi, I'm just wondering if chlorophyll b is an accessory pigment and does not transfer the energy of light to the carbon fixation reactions of photosynthesis, what is its functions?

And I know it's different from carotenoids which protect the plants from high energy radiation.

Thx for the help.

What is the function of Chlorophyll B as an accessory pigment?
Chlorophyll alpha is the most abundant pigment carrying out photosynthesis.

Accessory pigments can include chlorophyll b (also c, d, and e), xanthophylls, and carotenoids (such as beta-carotene). They absorb energy that chlorophyll a does not absorb and pass it to alpha.

Chlorophyll a absorbs well at a wavelength of about 450 nm and again with a higher peak at red 675nm;

Chlorophyll b absorbs most effectively at blue 470 but also at 430 and 640.

Alpha absorption peaks in the red while beta peaks in the blue.

Xanthophyll absorbs well at 400-530 nm

Beta-carotene absorbs most strongly between 400-500 nm.

Absorption under water is best in the long penetrating red wavelengths. So alpha still absorbs mostly at that end. The other pigments arose to capture the high enegry blue end in shallow water and on land.

A student needs 635 g of zinc sulfide, a white pigment, for an art project. He can synthesize it using the reaction given below.

Na2S + Zn(NO3)2 ---%26gt; ZnS + 2NaNO3

How many grams of zinc nitrate will he need if he can make the zinc sulfide in 86.4% yield? Assume that he has plenty of sodium sulfide.

A student needs 635 g of zinc sulfide, a white pigment, for an art project. He can synthesize it using the?
Moles - you gotta know all about moles.

635 g of ZnS is how many moles? Divide by the molar mass - in this case it's about 95 g/mole but you;re going to want to make sure that you have the proper number of significant figures.

As a SWAG, this is about 6.4 moles. If you have 86.4% yield, you'll need more - divide 6.4 by 0.864. This will be a number about 7 moles or so.

For every mole of ZnS, you need one mole of Zn(NO3)2 - so you need 7 moles of the reactant, too.

Muliply by the molar mass of Zn(NO3)2 5o get the answer. (The molar mass od the nitrate is something like 169 g/mole, so the answer will be on the order of 1,200 g.

Where can i find information on the plant photo pigment Chryptochrome?

Where can i find information on the plant photo pigment Chryptochrome?
Light is a crucial environmental signal that controls many circadian responses in plants. Perception and transduction of light is achieved by at least two principal groups of photoreceptors, phytochromes and cryptochromes. Phytochromes are red/far-red light-absorbing receptors encoded by a gene family of five members (phyA to phyE) in Arabidopsis. Cryptochrome 1 (cry1), cryptochrome 2 (cry2) and phototropin are the blue/ultraviolet-A light receptors that have been characterized in Arabidopsis. Previous studies showed that modulation of many physiological responses in plants is achieved by genetic interactions between different photoreceptors; however, little is known about the nature of these interactions and their roles in the signal transduction pathway. Here we show the genetic interaction that occurs between the Arabidopsis photoreceptors phyB and cry2 in the control of flowering time, hypocotyl elongation and circadian period by the clock. PhyB interacts directly with cry2 as observed in co-immunoprecipitation experiments with transgenic Arabidopsis plants overexpressing cry2. Using fluorescent resonance energy transfer microscopy, we show that phyB and cry2 interact in nuclear speckles that are formed in a light-dependent fashion.

His skin under this patch of hair is whiter, as well. Will he get his hair color back? Or will he be without pigment.

Sounds like vitiligo. Something to do with melanocyte (pigment cell) destruction. Maybe genetic, traumatic or autoimmune (combo of the 3) jury seems to still be out. Ask the pediatrician next time you go.

Not sure about re-pigmentation, good luck though!

How do I get a great lid look using pigment eyeshadows?

I've been experimenting with pigment eyeshadows lately but I havent found the look Im going for. I want it to be fierce but not too porn-starish. Any suggestions as to how I can acheive a good overall look?

How do I get a great lid look using pigment eyeshadows?
What color pigments do you have? I usually mix two shades - one all over, one in the crease and then I blend them together. I also apply pigments over another eyeshadow to create a more dimensional look. I love putting light pigments over dark shadow or liner. If I have a matte look, I will often put vanilla pigment over top to create more wow. You don't have to put pigments all the way up to your brow bones ... that can make you look a little pornstar-ish - lol. Check out youtube for good pigment videos, experiment and have fun!

My wart has come off, but now there are these black pigment things underneathe. What are they? Please help...?

Yea, I've had this annoying wart on the side of my right palm. Just recently I used a wart remover and the bumpy part of the wart came off no problem. Now there are these strange black pigment things underneathe, and I really want to know what they are. It seems my body is pushing them out on its own because now they're in a bunch forming like almost a black dot, as well as a bump.

Is this a sign the wart is going finally or are those black pigments the root of the wart?

My wart has come off, but now there are these black pigment things underneathe. What are they? Please help...?
That is the "seeds" and they are the part that spreads the virus. Do not touch them. Wash your hands real well and continue with the wart remover and cover the area. You still need this area to die and the "seeds" will fall off. Remember not to fool with them, because they are what spread the virus.
Reply:That's gross...

Why does my African American friend have no pigment on the bottom of his feet or palms of his hands?
Actually you are right the palms and the bottom of the feet are not pigmented including yours just that black peoples tend to stand out due to pigment contrst between the pigmented skin and unpigmented areas. Yours does not contrast that much because your skin tone is very light and therefore the difference unnoticeble

can anyone told me how to test the bacteria that i was isolated is fluorescent ....???????

need what chemical or equipment ?????

How to test the bacteria is it fluorescent pigment? specially for the azotobacter?
Acetobacter can be easily distinguished in the laboratory by their growth of colonies on a medium containing about 7% ethanol, and enough calcium carbonate to render the medium partially opaque. When Acetobacter colonies form enough acetic acid from the ethanol, the calcium carbonate around the colonies dissolves, forming a very distinct clear zone.

in order to isolate by using its fluoresecent keep a photographic plate so the we can know the position of the azotobacter in the plate using the immpression of its flourescence on the plate.

I believe it would hold, mine did (done over a small scar). However, speaking to the person who would do your tattoo would be ideal.

You might searching the web to see if you can pull up anything on it.

Also you could ask your artist. They should have a pretty good idea about it.

Hopefully someone else on here will have a direct answer for you.

I'd be wary and/or consider consulting a dermatologist.

Does anyone know anything about loss of pigment in the face due to an injury?

When my son (now 15) was about 7, he fell on his bike and scraped up his face. It healed, but ever since then he has blotchy pigment. It tans nicely in some areas, and not at all in some. (I assume this is where his face was scraped.) Will this ever improve or is there any treatment for this? In winter it is not so noticeable, but in summer even with sunscreen, he has a very uneven facial skin tone, even some big white polka dots.

Does anyone know anything about loss of pigment in the face due to an injury?
The scarring is what is causing the skin discoloration. Anyone who has a scar can tell you that it sometimes never fades or goes back to the original skin color. Sometimes it does eventually. Some scar treatment creams and stuff like that can usually help to fade scarring.

The colors you see on the screen, are made from different amounts, of colored light, which are Blue, Green, and Red. Mixed in equal amounts, they come out as white, when disabled they come out

Where about in the beetroot is the pigment concentrated more?

Know this ounds kinda obvious but just wanted to confirm, is there more pigment in the middle of the beetroot than on the edges?

Where about in the beetroot is the pigment concentrated more?
The pigments are actually betalain pigments, named after the Red beet (Beta vulgaris). They replace anthocyanins in plants of the order Caryophyllales (Cacti, beets %26amp; Co., bougainvillaea, phytolacca, large-flowered purslane etc. and also in some fungi such as fly agaric). Their function is not really known, but it is guessed that when present in the flowers they serve to attract pollinating insects and when present in seeds they may attract birds for the dispersal of the seeds. In cultivated species man may have arbitrarily selected for more coloured lines, because they are attractive to look at (red beet!), or the colour may have co-segregated with another useful trait. (For example, the colour may be genetically linked with a characteristic that improves flavour - by selecting varieties for flavour, man may have also selected for colour by chance.) There is no indication that betalains protect plants against pathogens (fungal, bacterial or viral) or herbivores, and they do not absorb UV light. Unlike anthocyanins, betalains are poor pH indicators.

Betalains are in the vacuole. They serve as markers for people who want to isolate intact vacuoles; the red-violet vesicles you can get from protoplasts are intact beet vacuoles. So betalain pigments have to cross 2 membranes. In living tissue (beet slices) you can get leakage by a heat shock, by acid treatment or of course by incubating them in acidified 80 % methanol. Thinner slices have a larger surface, thus speeding up pigment leakage. Putting beet slices in the deep-freeze of course kills them, and afterwards the pigments will leak out. A pH of about 3 - 4 stabilises the pigments and protects against oxidation. Pigment extracts must be protected from direct sun light and should be kept in a cool and dark place.

Beet pigments are unstable at higher temperature, but the chemistry depends on the pH and composition of the solution, oxygen concentration, how long the solution is boiled for etc etc. Generally, plant extracts are complex, i.e. they contain phenolics and lots of reactive substances in addition to what you are looking at, and they just turn brown (eg at 80ºC).

How do i get rid of brown pigment marks on my lips??

hello i have got brown pigment marks across my bottom lip and was wondering how i could get rid of them or lighten them. I have tried microdermabasion and even chemical peels but nothing has made it better.

How do i get rid of brown pigment marks on my lips??
the coloring is probably under the surface. moisturize often and use a toner to even the skin tone. also you could use a MILD skin bleach on your lips ,but you should really go to a dermatologist first

Why dont blue colored eyes have any pigment in them?

well i need this for my bio homework

why dont blue eyes have any pigment in them, then what is it that is giving it a blue colour?

i need this info immediately thanxs

Why dont blue colored eyes have any pigment in them?
Blue-coloured eyes DO have pigment in them. If you want to see what eyes without pigment look like, consult and albino. Albinos cannot produce any pigment at all... their eyes look pink.

Now, there are lots of different pigments that the body uses. Blue eyes don't have any BROWN or GREEN pigment. But they definitely have some blue.
Reply:Blue eyes are relatively common throughout Europe, especially in Northern Europe, including the northern Baltics and in East Central Europe.Blue eyes contain low amounts of melanin within the iris stroma; longer wavelengths of light tend to be absorbed by the underlying iris pigment epithelium and shorter wavelengths are reflected and undergo Rayleigh scattering.

Blue eyes are found mainly in people of northern European and eastern European descent, and to a lesser extent, in people of southern Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia, most commonly in people who live at higher elevations [citation needed]. South Asians may also have blue eyes, but this is uncommon, except amongst Pathans in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India. It also occurs in other Indians and Pakistanis, generally in highest percentages among Punjabiis - though even then it is not exactly common. Finland and Lithuania have the highest proportions of blue-eyed people, with at least 80% in both countries respectively. Ireland and Great Britain also have high proportions of blue eyes, with estimates of around 70% for Ireland and about 65% for Britain. Many white babies are born with blue eyes, though their eyes darken, or change color, with time. Most infants' eye color will set within a couple of days to a couple of weeks, though some people's will continue to change for a number of years.

A blue-green human eye.Blue eyes are associated with blond hair, and nearly everyone with naturally blond hair has some form of blue eyes.[citation needed] This is due to the fact that the gene for blue eyes is very close to the gene for blond hair on a DNA strand; therefore, they(blond hair and blue eyes) are often inherited together.[citation needed]

Blue is the color of the indole monomer that when polymerised forms melanin[citation needed]. If both alleles for brown eyes (a polymerase gene) are absent or damaged, the blue color remains. Hence blue eye color is a recessive trait.

Why is my dog's skin pigment turning purple??

My shih-tzu/dachshund mix has always had light pink skin under his tan fur, but it's now almost entirely mauve colored, with just a few pink blotches left. Otherwise he's healthy %26amp; happy. New in his life in the last 3 months: Nutro Lamb Meal %26amp; Rice Formula, which seems to be better for his skin because it isn't all wheat %26amp; corn like most foods, but does list beet pulp, potassium chloride, dried kelp, zinc sulfate, ferrous sulfate, copper proteinate, niacin, manganous oxide, and calcium iodate among ingredients; Frontline; neutered 2 months ago; and he's getting more exercise since we adopted a second dog with whom he plays many hours a day. Has anyone heard of a dog's pigment changing because of any of these things? And will it--or can it--change back?? Thanks!

Why is my dog's skin pigment turning purple??
Wonder if it is the beet pulp? I know beets will turn your tongue purple, also discolor a human infant's stool. First time I fed my oldest son strained beets, I like to died when I opened his diaper; I thought he was bleeding internally!

You might try switching to a different dog food, one that has not been affected by the recall, and that does not contain wheat, corn, or beet pulp; for example:

Canidae

Wellness (made by Mother Hubbard)

Royal Canin

Solid Gold

Eagle Pack

Flint River Ranch

My dachshunds LOVE the Wellness, they are 8-9 years old so I feed the senior / weight management formula. It contains chicken, brown rice, barley, oats, tomatoes, apples, blueberries, spinach, carrots, sweet potatoes. Dachsies are notorious fruit and veggie eaters...

What is the relationship between accessory pigment and chlorophyll a?

please help me with the question. my biology does not say what the relationship between an accessory pigment or chlorophyll is, but the question is on a worksheet that i have that is worth a lot of points. thanks!

What is the relationship between accessory pigment and chlorophyll a?
chlorophyll a is the main pigment, chlorophyll b and carotenoids are accessory pigments. accessory pigments help broaden the absorbtion spectrum, as chlorophyll a absorbs violet-blue and red light. with the addition of accessory pigments chlorophyll b and carotenoids, yellow-green (chlor b) and violet and blue-green light (caro)

Do professional photographers have to use pigment printers (as opposed to ink-jet) to sell their prints.?

I have just bought a canon pixma pro 9000 A3 printer but its inkjet, I have heard that pigment printers are better for prints as they last longer but I don't know if this is a marketing ploy to get us poor photographer to find a couple hundred more quid. I mean it is a professional printer so why can't i use it to print professional prints? Please help me out before I open the box.

Do professional photographers have to use pigment printers (as opposed to ink-jet) to sell their prints.?
I am a pro photographer and I use a Cannon ip5300. The quality is astounding! I have compared results with others and the cannon is way better. Remember that the life of a photograph is dependant on many factors, sunlight, air pollution etc.
Reply:i used to work profsessionally in photography for 8 years and i have always used an inkjet printer at the processing lab whilst working for a trademark of KODAK.
Reply:Actually, inkjet inks come in 2 different kinds - dye based and pigment based. The pigment is better, as dye based sometimes doesn't last as long as the pigment, and sometimes isn't waterproof (or so I've read). I chose to get a pigment ink printer (the Epson R1800).

It appears your inkjet uses pigment inks, so you're OK!
Reply:Most of us do it the old fashion way ... use a photo lab. Much less expensive in the end.
Reply:Yes because they last longer. (They are still ink jet printers though)
Reply:No! I use inkjet all the time and Im a pro. user.

A plant has a unique photosynthetic pigment. The leaves of this plant appear to be reddish yellow.....?
red and yellow, these colors are being reflected back.

all other colors are absorbed.
Reply:red/yellow
Reply:Oranges (reddish yellows) occur at wavelengths of about 585–620 nm. Reds occur at wavelengths of roughly 625–750 nm, and yellows occur at wavelengths of 570–580 nm.
Reply:another photosynthetic pigment aside from the chlorophyll is the carotenoid. if you follow the link below and study the absorption spectra of photosynthetic pigments, you will see that carotenoids absorb light between 380nm and 550nm (and therefore 550~750nm is not absorbed). this reflected light appear as yellow, orange and red coloration in leaves!

How do you make your skin pigment a shade lighter witout using bleach or products that can damage your skin?

My skin tone is lighter on the upper part of my body and darker on the lower part of my body like my bottom and legs. I'm a female. What products should I use, as an African American, that can help my skin pigment become the same as the upper part of my body.

How do you make your skin pigment a shade lighter witout using bleach or products that can damage your skin?
Use sunblock on the darker part each time to leave the house. If you use one with very high SPF, it should even out within a week.
Reply:Stay away from direct sunlight. Take up video games and Dundgeons and Dragons. That oughta hold ya.
Reply:i have a typical indian solution

cut slices of tomato and rub the peel with the juice onto the dark parts of ur skin. this will make ur skin lighter in abt 4-5 weeks coz tomamto is said to have bleaching powers.

Am I able to use MAC pigment eyeshadow as an eyeliner? And how???

I recently bought the MAC Black-Black pigment eyeshadow and wanted to know if it can be used as an eyeliner and if so, how? All other eyeliners I have used does not give the black look that I want. If it can be used as an eyeliner, does it work well? Help. Thanks :)

Am I able to use MAC pigment eyeshadow as an eyeliner? And how???
i think this can get very messy, because eyeliner has to be precise, while pigment is meant to be used over a larger area and be super blendable, and your just not gonna get it to a point where it'll stay exactly where its put because it will blend slightly into surrounding areas.

you could, however, try mixing a small amount of pigment with a tiny drop of water to create a paste of eyeliner, if you're really keen on using this pigment. good luck.

hold on, your talking about the loose powder form of eyeshadow right? not the solid block of color? cuz my message applies to the loose powder pigment.
Reply:You use a fine-tipped eyeliner brush, dip it in water, then the eyeshadow. Draw your eyes.

All eyeshadows can be used as a soft eyeliner.

See your dermatologist.
Reply:huh???
Reply:I work at a hospital and we take people like you to the 5th floor.
Reply:it's in your genes, nothing much you can do unless you get a skin disorder.

Lady S- that was pretty funny
Reply:( maybe your a lizard im just joking on a serious note though )im advising you not to get back the colour you had maybe when you mess around with it, it gets worst trust me you dont want that
Reply:Seriously, the only thing you can do is get a tan. I was born with naturally dark skin, and there is really no way for me to get light skin. Therefore, you can't change your skin pigment, or melanin, you're born and stuck with it. You should try and be more comfortable with your body.
Reply:Is your skin darker now???

I'ts a condition known as SUNTAN.

Now, if i'ts lighter maybe you have the same disease as Michael Jackson.

Is there any source of melanin(pigment) in diet?

the darker(black) the hair, the more the melanin(black pigment) is, (i suppose). so can you tell me how to improve the colour (blackness)of hair by taking particular kind of food or which mineral is exactly responsible for blackness of hair.

Is there any source of melanin(pigment) in diet?
You do realize, the more melanin in your body the more darker your skin. And there is no way you can get 'melanin' in a diet. For black hair, you Shikakai hair oil, curry leaves and eat Gooseberries.

Happy Colouring.

Reply:melanin is just pigment.our bodycells produce it to protect us from UV of sun.for example if u it carot before u go on holiday in hot country it gonna help u to get better suntan(to make your skin dacker).but not hair.our hair colour depend of genetic factors and enviroment(for example sunshine can make your hair lighter).i thing that some oils can help u.u should ask in pharmacy
Reply:To your surprise, a blond and a black haired person have the SAME AMOUNT of melanin in each hair. The difference is agregation patterns, blondes have more concentrated melanin inside thier hairs, and black hair has melanin well dispersed in each hair. So hair colour is a function of melanin distribution, darker hair has its melanin well distributed, blond is trully concentrated.

Oils, paints and the likes are just cosmetics and no change in colour is possible in a human being.
