If a chlorophyll is a the primary photosynthtic pigment, the what adaptive purpose do the other coloured?
The other pigments are called accessory pigments. They absorb wavelengths of light that chlorophyll does not absorb. Then they pass that energy along to the chlorophyll. With these various pigments, the plant can use more of the light than it would with chlorophyll a alone.
