Split pigment in puppy nose?

If a puppy has a split pigment (two colours lighter cream and black looking nose at 3 weeks. Will it go all black as the puppy gets older ?

Split pigment in puppy nose?
Yes it could, my friends puppy's nose was pink and black until it was 8 weeks old, and is fine now. It is quite common not to be completely black at that age.
Reply:Probably not no! It is never usually a problem though, although you should check the lighter part doesnt get sunburnt in the summer!
Reply:usually,, depends on the breed though,,,,

what breed and are the parents noses fully pigmented

** theresa is wrong,, my blue merle aussies had spotted noses at birth, took up to about 6 months for their noses to get all black- it is even written into the standard,, "pups under a year old NOT to be faulted for lack of full pigmentation on the nose." so relax,, your dog will probably get a black nose,,

but what kind of dog and how about its parents??????????????????????????
Reply:usualy not if you were planning on showing the dog this is known as a fault and will not get placed but if it is just a pet it is usualy fine and sometimes can be the best quility of the dogb and look fairly cute
Reply:not likely. it could change though. this only really matters in shows. there is a pigment color paste, if you are gonna show the dog. its only temporary though
Reply:The pigment may change over time depending on the breed, age, etc. My dog's nose was solid black when she was younger and has faded as she has aged. Pigment in all mammals can change a bit over time and based on various factors.
Reply:probably not. but this is okay and is more common in a lot of dog breeds like weirmaranas, dalmations and jack russels. the different colours will not harm the dog, and the cream may or may not turn to a light pink colour as theiy get older.
Reply:Its hard to predict I know of a merle collie whose nose remained mainly pink %26amp; then again our english bull terrier started off with just a couple of tiny black specs on his pink nose %26amp; by a year old his nose was totally black.

Either way Im sure your puppy looks cute just watch for sunburn if it stays pink/pale.

Good luck with your pup x
Reply:Well, you see, it is a SHIH TZU! Dont know about the nose - I guess it's something you will have to wait and see about.
Reply:My pups nose is also like this. His parents both have black noses. He has a black and pink patchy nose. We got him checked out by the vet and she said it is perfectly normal for a dogs nose to be this way. Sometimes it will go back to black but unforunatly for some it may not. But either way s/he is still a pup for life. It is just there unique markings.
