Mac Pigment Eye Shadows?

Are pigment powders from the art store safe to use on eyes, like the ones from Mac? Thank you!

Mac Pigment Eye Shadows?
NO! Only cosmetic graded pigments are safe for use on skin, ESPECIALLY around the eyes...However, a little trick is that if it's safe to use on your eye it's safe to use on your lip and visa versa. Please don't use art supplies as make up, it could damage your eyes...
Reply:I wouldn't do that if i were you, your eyes could go peremenantly blind if you get some in your eyes
Reply:It depends. I would check the ingredients used in the pigment powders first, and then check that against the contents of eye shadow. I do know that many pigments are perfectly fine to use like that, as are "earth paints," which always come in a powder form. Just check and make sure, then test some on your skin to see if you have a reaction. It's unlikely, but it's best to make sure.

Most of the pigments in cosmetics are the same ones used in paints and other pigment powders. You'll find titanium dioxide, various iron oxides and ochres, and even charcoal in some makeup.
